Depending on the type of crops you are growing you can either plant a certain flower to protect your crops or place a scarecrow (flower patch) or pay the local gardener to look over your crops (see Gardener payments section).
Trees, bushes, and herbs do not need to be watered when planted. If you are planting trees, there are a few extra steps involved because trees cannot be planted directly into the ground. Obtain a plantpot by either buying one from a Farming shop or by using a gardening trowel on an empty, weeded farming patch while carrying an empty plant pot. While holding onto the gardening trowel (because a seed dibber doesn't work here), use the tree seed on the plantpot.
After that you must water the seedling so it can grow. Tip: It will grow to a sapling faster while sitting inside your bank. Weed the patch you are going to be planting in, use your compost of choice, and use your grown sapling on the patch.

Treating soil with compost also yields 1. Exception: If you fill the compost bin up with only tomatoes it will make rotten tomatoes, not compost. If you wish to use tomatoes, use some weeds with the bin on top of the tomatoes. Below is the method on how to make the compost.
Take the weeds or vegetation you are planning on using and locate the nearest compost bin. When it is full (1. Depending on what the vegetation is will determine how long it takes. When it is done decomposing (it will let you open the lid if it is done) you can lift up the lid and use your buckets on the compost bin.
You will gain 4. 5 experience per regular bucket you fill and 8. Supercompost: Supercompost is made only from using certain types of items inside the compost bin. Supercompost provides. Lowers the time that your crops will grow in. Will increase your crop yield (i. You will get more Sweetcorn than you would with normal compost from your sweetcorn plant).
Will lower the chance of your crops getting diseased. Guarantees a yield of 5 or more herbs in herb plots (if grown). Supercompost has stricter requirements to make. You may use 1. 5 of any combination of the following items below in the bin, but if you put a single item that does not qualify as a supercompost level item then you will only get normal compost.
